Description

Constantine the Great was the first Roman emperor to embrace Christianity, though early coins show only a gradual shift from pagan symbols. His vision before the Battle of the Milvian Bridge and the Christian symbol XP (Chi-Rho) became key parts of his legacy. His mother, Helena, helped establish the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in Jerusalem, believed to mark the site of Christ’s crucifixion. Constantine also founded Constantinople as a Christian capital. Bronze coins from this era often developed a dark protective patina after centuries underground. This coin was handset in a 14kt gold pendant.
